OUR STORY

WHERE IT ALL STARTED

Welcome to the world of vida e caffè, where life and coffee come together in perfect harmony. It’s as simple as this: no coffee, no life; no life, no coffee.

Our journey began back in 2001, right on the vibrant Kloof Street in Cape Town. We drew inspiration from the charming street cafés of Portugal, infusing them with the infectious energy of Africa. From that day forward, we’ve been dedicated to serving up not just coffee, but life itself, every single day.

Just like our incredible team, our coffee reflects the dynamic personalities that embody the vida way of life. Fuelled by our passion for caffè, our range of custom blends and single-origin coffees are truly out of this world.

In Portuguese, ‘Estrela’ means ‘star,’ and much like the glinting celestial bodies above, our signature coffee blend is truly unique. Estrela is a 100% Arabica blend (no Robusta here), with a medium roast, showcasing the finest African, Central, and South American beans.

No need to go in store, limited human interactions and no dealing with cash or credit card terminals. Available now via Order Ahead on the vida app, at Drive -Thru and selected stores only.

Many of our stores are also available on Uber Eats, Bolt & Mr D Food, so customers can get their favourite caffè, breakfast, lunch and/or a snack delivered directly to them.

Our ‘shoesies’ spend at least three months in training to become expert baristas. We equip them with the tools and knowledge to thrive, empowering every single trainee to succeed in a customer-centric environment.

Specifically designed to mirror a ‘real’ vida e caffè store environment, Passionistas in training learn the ropes at our training headquarters in Cape Town and Johannesburg. It’s here that company policies, procedures, and standards are introduced, explained, and set. These are then reinforced and instilled throughout the training program.
